I’ve always liked LEGO ever since I was a youngster. Technic LEGO was my favourite, building cars and trucks with working steering and suspension and driving them round my bedroom floor.
It’s been a few years since then, but now my love of LEGO is back and it’s all due to the little figures that come with the various LEGO kits.
I’ve seen a few people on Flickr recreating scenes from films, music videos and history and I thought I’d give it a go. So after some digging around at my parents house, my box of LEGO was found and I dug out my collection of figures. I found about 20 or so figures, but they were all old ones. If you look at that figures you get now, they have lots of extra things like better wigs, better accessories and other stuff like capes, beards, and helmets. You can also get flesh coloured figures too, so it’s not just the normal yellow people.
LEGO has also capitalised on the major films too. You an now get kits and figures from Star Wars, Harry Potter, Batman and Spiderman, plus there are also pirate, wild west, space and medieval knights kits and figures available.
The figures are now very collectible and ebay has lots of LEGO figures available, some going for a fair bit of money considering they are just little bits of plastic. For instance, if you have a Jango Fett figure from Star Wars, then you can expect to get around £40 for it on ebay. £40!!!
I’ve now built up a collection of around 100 figures, with about 12 Star War characters (not Jango Fett unfortunately) a couple of Spiderman characters, a few from Harry Potter and the rest is a mixture of knights, spacemen, cowboys and various other figures.
So, if you’ve got some LEGO in the attic or a cupboard. Dig it out and relive your youth, or just flog it on ebay, you may make some good money!

I have been using mozilla’s email software for many years now as Microsoft’s Outlook or Outlook Express just didn’t give me confidence in security. I now use the excellent Mozilla Thunderbird which is a great stand alone email package. Fully featured, hot on security and simple to use, but anyway, that’s not what I’m posting about.
I was just looking through my inbox and noticed that I still had emails from the year 2000 in there. Did they have computers back then!! That’s 7 years worth of email, surely that’s too much. OK, I don’t have every email I’ve ever got in the last 7 years, a lot has been filtered off into folders or deleted, but maybe it’s time for a proper spring clean.
How do you manage your emails? I’ll be interested to know.
This is great, and such a simple but addictive idea. Keep the drunk bloke upright for as long as you can.
I’m sure there are many of you who have seen someone like this, or maybe there’s a few of you that have been like this yourself…. (I’m saying nothing)….. but all you have to do is keep the drunk upright for as long as you can just by moving the mouse left or right…. so simple!!
Yes, already there is an update.
Basically the network card hasn’t made any difference at all. The wireless connection decided to drop right in the middle of a skype call to a server technical support bod I was trying to to sort a client problem out with.
I swore at the wireless connection several times, but even that didn’t help.
It is really frustrating!
I’ve got a Acer Aspire 3610 laptop which I currently use to do all my work on. It comes with a built in wireless card which has caused me no end of grief. So much so that when I use it in my house, I use an ethernet cable that goes from my router, down the stairs and across my front room as I need the reliability.
I had the problem where I would be connected fine, then out of the blue the wireless network would disconnect and then it wouldn’t be able to connect again even though the signal is classed as excellent. A major pain in the rectum, especially when you are mid way through uploading a client’s web site. I upgraded drivers, reinstalled it, played with the settings, but nothing seemed to work.
So before I got to the stage of throwing the laptop out the window, I bought a 802.11g Wireless cardbus adaptor from eBuyer. It’s the D-Link 108G AirPlusXtremeG, sounds scary doesn’t it. It cost me a massive £26.88 but hopefully it’ll cure the issues.
So far so good but I’ve only had it installed for about 30 minutes!
I don’t know whether I just got a duff card in my laptop, or whether the drivers are rubbish, or something else, but it really put me off wireless for a while.
Boredom and the internet are a bad combination, but it’s frequently becoming a more common combination. Just where is all the cool stuff on the internet nowadays? Or is it all just blogs by people saying how much money they are making by blogging about how about how much money they make? I’m not bitter…… honest.
Anyway, boredom is expensive and ebay is the main culprit. BUY IT NOW buttons are made by the devil. Auctions just about to finish with no bids are the spawn of satan and photography is an expensive hobby. There really is no hope for me.
Ok, I’m now blogging about being bored instead of pressing buy it now buttons, which is a better thing, but I’m still bored.
I need to get out more.
A gazraa is a strange thing. Gazraa evolved as my nickname meerly by chance on a trip to Tenerife more years ago than I really want to remember.
Gaz is obviously a shorter name for Garry, but looking at wikipedia, it could also be:
- GAZ, which is a Russian automobile manufacturer.
- Gaz, who is a character from the animated television series Invader Zim.
- Gaz, who is just a minor character in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, who owns Geno.
- Gaz, which is a Mughal measurement of length, often translated as ‘yard’.
- Gaz is also a tasty famous treat of Isfahan, Iran, a nougat which is mixed with chopped pistachio.
- And finally, Camping Gaz, a brand of compressed fuel gas products for camping and caravanning.
Blimey!
Raa on the other hand is a little more involved. For my nickname it was just what I shouted during a night of drinking a fair few intoxicating drinks when someone shouted out “Gaz”, but does it have any other meanings? Well wikipedia doesn’t bring up much. It’s obvisouly an acronym for a lot of things, the most interesting being the following:
- Right Atrial Appendage
- Royal Australian Artillery
- Random Access Algorithm
- Reservation Aloha Algorithm
So not the most interesting of names, but it is mine and the one I’m increasingly known by. Do a google uk search for ‘gazraa’ shows pretty much what I get up to on the net…. maybe I should choose a new username so I can hide!
So there you. Gazraa. I’ll be testing you later on it.
